"The connoisseur does not drink wine but tastes its secrets."""""
Sir Robert Scott Caywood
"Compromises are made for relationships ... not wine."
A little silliness from Angie
When someone recently said to me: "you're drinking too much," I responded with "I can't be, you're still ugly."
Angie's words...
To relieve stress, I do yoga. Just kidding. I drink wine dressed in my yoga pants.
My thoughts
It is with great sadness that I read about the number of wineries in Napa and Sonoma that have been devastated by the recent fires. My heart goes out to those folks who toil so tirelessly to bring us our California wines.
Preservation
The Romans discovered that mixing led with wine not only helped preserve the wine, but also gave it a sweet taste and succulent texture. Chronic lead poisoning has often been cited as one of the causes of the decline of Rome.
Wine tasting
When wine tasting, hold the wine in the mouth for a moment or two and then either swallow it or, preferably, spit it out, usually into a spittoon. A really good wine will have a long after taste, while an inferior wine will have a short after taste.
Anonymous
A wine that tastes watery is said to taste "diluted." It may have been made from grapes picked during a rainstorm.
An ancient Greek tradition
In ancient Greece, the dinner host would take the first sip of wine to assure guests that the wine was not poisoned, hence the phrase "drinking to one's health."
Storing wine
The worst place to store wine is usually in the kitchen, because it is typically too warm to store wine safely. Refrigerators are not satisfactory for storing wine either. Even at their warmest setting, they are usually too cold.
